 A public judging event is held each year at the National Rose Trial Garden within the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.
Members of the general public are encouraged to visit the Trial Gardens to cast their votes for their most favoured roses and view those new roses most likely to be released in the coming seasons.
These results provide an excellent insight for rose breeders, rose growers and retailers as to those types of roses which are most popular to the public.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE 2026
The People’s Choice weekend was held in the Adelaide Botanic Garden on the Anzac Day Weekend, 25-26th April. The winner of the People’s Choice was Brandon from Hallet who chose 4 out of the 5 roses in the correct order. He received $1000 worth of prizes from our Sponsors: Neutrog Australia, Garden Grove Supplies, Rose Introducers of Australia and The Rose Society of South Australia
The most popular rose selected is an Australian bred ruffled, floriferous floribunda rose in Bed 59 of the trial. It is named “Shepherd’s Delight”, hybridized and entered in the trial by John and Reuben Nieuwesteeg. It will be available for sale in 2027.
Neutrog once again held a photo competition for best photo from the trial garden. Over 100 photos were entered this year with the winner awarded $250.
